Shanty Secrets Recreational Cooking School & Bistro first opened its doors in November of 2009. In joining our passion for creating a unique dining experience with the love of making lasting memories surrounded by friends and family, something absolutely amazing happened to catalyze the beginning of our small business journey. Realizing that fulfillment from life comes from truly enjoying what you do for "work" on the daily, the decision to share our dedication towards preparing delicious meals was one of the easiest we've ever made. With love in our hearts and creativity in our minds, we chose a few different avenues in which we are able to spread the joy of cooking.

The Bistro is an eclectic fine-dining experience nestled along the Susquehanna River. Welcomed by the tempting aromas wafting from our open-concept kitchen, modern swing and jazz music plays softly to enhance the ambiance. Tables that are elegantly dressed in linen tablecloths, fresh flowers, and rose-rolled napkins are awaiting our guests upon their arrival as the aromas of the evening waft from behind the Grand Chef's Arena. The Arena is our high-top bar dining experience, where Chef Kristian performs his full duties of preparation right in front of you and your guests (seats 6). 

The Recreational Cooking School aspect of our namesake is where Chef Kristian showcases his true passion for creating single dishes and multiple courses that can be perfected by even the most novice of home chefs. From Pizza to Pierogies to Pasta, we have classes that are enjoyable at every age and skill-level.  Along with group classes, a romantic and intimate idea for an anniversary or special occasion is a Master Class, in which Chef does one-on-one instruction for the preparation of a 5-course meal, along with recipes in order to be recreated at home for future entertaining.

Busy lives create conflicting schedules, different mealtimes, and the tendency to overindulge in fast foods or pizza. We know how easy it is to choose something unhealthy and quick, so in debuting our Weekly Meal Prep Menu, we wanted to give people the option for healthier, fully prepared meals that can be heated right out of the refrigerator for a quick lunch or busy weeknight meal substitution. Our five-item menu is revealed every Sunday or Monday afternoon, and ordering days and times vary week to week so be sure to check the dates and timeframe in which you may pick up your meals.
